Terms of Service
Last updated: 22 May 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the CaseFile.uk website and document preparation service (the “Service”) operated by Casefile Software Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17201853), with its registered office at 66 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4NA (“we”, “us”, “our”).
1. Service Description
CaseFile is a document preparation service. We organise, paginate, and index documents you provide into court-ready bundles. We do not provide legal advice, legal representation, or opinions on the merits of any case.
We are not a law firm and are not regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), CILEX Regulation, or any other legal services regulator. Using the Service does not create a solicitor–client relationship, and no legal professional privilege attaches to documents we handle or to our communications with you. You should always seek independent legal advice from a qualified solicitor or barrister.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and have legal capacity to enter into a binding contract to use the Service. By placing an order, you confirm that you meet these requirements.
3. Orders and Payment
You can create an account, complete the intake form, and upload your documents free of charge. Payment is taken via Stripe when you choose to submit your case for assembly, and we begin preparing your bundle only after payment has been received. Prices are displayed in GBP and include VAT where applicable. An order is confirmed once payment has been successfully processed and you receive a confirmation email.
4. Cancellation and Refunds
Your right to cancel. If you are a consumer, you have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of payment, without giving a reason, under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. However, by paying to submit your case for assembly you are expressly asking us to begin work immediately, and you acknowledge that:
- if we have fully prepared and delivered your bundle within the 14-day period, you lose the right to cancel; and
- if you cancel after we have started but before delivery, we may deduct a reasonable amount for the work already carried out before refunding the balance.
To cancel, email us at nick@casefile.uk.
Refunds. If we are unable to produce your bundle for any reason, you will receive a full refund. Once a bundle has been delivered, refunds are at our discretion. If you are dissatisfied with the service, please contact us within 7 days of delivery.
5. Your Responsibilities
- You are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the documents and information you provide.
- You must not upload documents you do not have lawful authority to share with us.
- You are responsible for reviewing your bundle before filing it with any court.
6. Intellectual Property
You retain all rights in the documents you upload. We retain rights in the formatting, layout, and indexing systems we apply. The assembled bundle is yours to use for any lawful purpose.
7. Data Handling
We handle your documents and personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Documents are encrypted at rest and in transit. We delete your documents 90 days after bundle delivery, and we delete the uploaded documents and case details from unpaid cases 14 days after they are created, unless you request earlier deletion.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claims arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid for the relevant order. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or opportunity. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
We do not guarantee that any bundle will be accepted by any court or that it will meet the specific procedural requirements of any particular jurisdiction or judge.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, except as required by law. We are not a law firm. Nothing in our Service constitutes legal advice. Any information or guidance provided during the intake or messaging process relates solely to document preparation logistics.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at our discretion if you breach these Terms. You may close your account at any time by contacting us at nick@casefile.uk.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
13. Contact
If you have any questions about these Terms, please contact us at nick@casefile.uk.
